  New to the hobby are shortwave UV flashlights that use short-wave UV LEDs instead of fluorescent bulbs.  The flashlights put out a more focused beam and are great in finding fluorescent minerals at greater distances.  These shortwave UV flashlight use 255nm Leds which are the most current technology when it comes to UV leds.  One thing can be said that was a positive of the Covid pandemic is that it advanced the technology of UV leds.  Shortwave UV is known to break down virus and bacterial organisms and was used greatly during the Covid pandemic.  To this day using shortwave UV leds help with public spaces and with municipal water supplies.  Shortwave UV leds also use much less energy than a fluorescent bulbs and is now the standard.  The shortwave UV flashlight comes with lithum ion  batteries to help ensure a full night of collecting.  Batteries will run from 4 to 5 hours of use while out collecting.  
Did you know 90 percent of all fluorescent minerals will need a shortwave UV lamp in order to respond with color.  Longwave aka "blacklight" and midwave UV also compliment the collecting experience.  (sold separately)
